Sardar Patel Medical College Bikaner, one of the top government medical colleges in Rajasthan was started in the year 1959 and was Rajasthan’s second medical college. The medical college is fully funded and run by the government of Rajasthan. The medical college has been named after Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the architect of Modern India and also recognized as SP Medical College Bikaner. The medical college in initial was called Bikaner Medical College and was inaugurated by the 1st Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
