What is the process of MBBS Mop-Up round?

MBBS Counselling Rounds:

After getting rank under NEET 2018 entrance exams for MBBS admission candidates goes through under 2 rounds of main counselling and 1 MBBS mop-up round counselling to fill last vacant seat under state or AIQ quota seats. There are All India Quota Seats, State Government Quota Seats, State/Private/Management/NRI Quota Seats in all Private Medical / Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University, and Central Pool Quota Seats which will be filled under a centralized computer system online after registration.

What is Mop-up Round?

Mop up round is a round or a list basically that comes out after all the rounds are done. MBBS Mop-Up round is the process of counselling of seat allotment in medical colleges by states against the reverted seats from All India 15% quota. Candidates who are qualified but do not get any seat in round 1 and round 2 they are automatically eligible for MBBS Mop-Up round. Candidate has to fill separate form for this round. The dates will display at the time of counselling. The state council gives the students a date up to which the students can leave their seat without paying a fine. Once you are allotted a seat in mop up round, you can’t leave it. You have to take admission in it.

NEET 2018 Round 1 Counselling Procedure:


Eligible candidates declared by CBSE, will have to register online. Candidates will have to click on ‘New registrations’ tab. Now, candidates will be required to enter their details such as roll number, all India rank and percentile score. After registration, candidates will be allotted a user name and password.

Mock Counselling:

Candidates can take part in the online mock counselling held by MCC to get a general idea of which seats they will be allotted based on their choices and rank. The choices submitted by the candidates will be processed and seats will be given to the candidates based on their rank and choice placement. Mock counselling helps candidates to refine their selection of choices online in a more efficient way. Candidates can modify their choices after the mock counselling since the placement during that process is not binding.

Counselling Process:

Qualified candidates who meet all of the eligibility criteria will be allotted seats according to their choices filled. The allotment letter will be available for download online. The candidates will have to report to the allotted institute with the required documents, fees as written in the allotment letter. All candidates who will not be present on the specific date as written on the allotment letter will be disqualified.

1. NEET 2018 Allotment Letter

2. NEET 2018 Admit Card

3. Birth Certificate

4. Class X Certificate

5. Class XII Marks/Pass Certificate

6. Valid Photo ID (Voter ID, Passport, Aadhar Card, Driving License, etc)

7. Eight Passport Size Photos

8. OBC Certificate (Non-Creamy Layer) issued by a competent authority (if applicable)

9. OPH Certificate issued by an authorized medical board (if applicable)

10. SC/ST Certificate issued by a competent authority (if applicable)

NEET 2018 Round 2 Counselling Procedure:

Round 2 of NEET 2018 Counselling will take place in case of availability of vacant seats. All vacant seats from the first round will be transferred to the second round. All eligible candidates along with the candidates, who have submitted option for participation in the second round during the reporting period of the first round, will be made to fill fresh choices online. There will be no mock counselling. The process of counselling will remain the same as the first one. The candidates falling under the three given categories will be eligible for the second round of NEET 2018 Counselling:

Group 1: Candidates who have registered themselves but did not get allotted to any seats in the first round. These candidates should have submitted fresh choices as per the vacancies available.

Group 2: Registered candidates from the reserved category whose admission got cancelled due to change of category i.e., the candidate’s document showed him to be the unreserved category. Or if the candidate’s physically handicapped status went from yes to no or from PH-1 to PH-2. These candidates will be considered for seat allotment based on their changed category.

Group 3: Candidates who chose to participate in the second round of counselling when reporting at the allotted university after the first round.

NEET 2018 MBBS Mop-up Round Counselling:

Candidates who are qualified but do not get any seat in round 1 and round 2 they are automatically eligible for Mop Up round. You have to fill separate form for this round. The dates will display at the time of counselling. It is a chance to get a seat in Government College irrespective of lower marks than state cut off.
