The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has stated that it will try its best to accommodate the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET PG) candidates in their correspondence address in the state of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Pondicherry. NEET PG 2021 candidates who had chosen ‘others’ while filling up the application as an option within the state and UT if the required number of nodes are available.
This was stated by NBE Executive Director Pawanindra Lal in his reply to Madurai MP Su Venkatesan who had earlier written to the board to increase NEET PG centres in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry as the exam centres in these two places were filled up in less than 4 hours while the applications for PG medical entrance examination were released. The centres in the neighboring states were also filled up within two days that the NEET PG 2021 applications were out. The MP wrote twice to NBE as March 15 was the last date of applying for the exam. In his letter, he had stated that travelling to far states during the pandemic would not only be risky for the candidate but also for the guardian. With tight restrictions across the country again, the minister said that immediate steps must be taken so that candidates could focus more on the exams for PG medical admissions.
NBE has replied that the availability of testing seats will result in allotment of seat to NEET PG 2021 candidates according to the correspondence address. Testing centre will be allotted in a neighboring state in case of unavailability of seats due to logistic, administrative or other reasons. The main reason behind shortage of seats is the alternate seats have been left vacant due to distancing norms of the pandemic.
