The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) has released CLAT 2018 notification for admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate degree law courses. Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is one of the popular law entrance exams in India that opens the gateways for admission to UG law courses (LL.B.) and PG law courses (LL.M.) in 19 National Law Universities in India.

CLAT 2018 IMPORTANT DATES

 

The CLAT registration shall begin from 1 January 2018. Eligible candidates seeking admission to UG or PG law courses at any of the 19 National Law Universities need to register for Common Law Admission Test 2018 on or before the mentioned last date. Along with filling up of CLAT 2018 application form, law aspirants need to give the order of preferences for National Law Universities.  The complete CLAT exam 2018 schedule is mentioned hereunder:

CLAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for UG Law Courses

 

The CLAT eligibility criteria for law admission (UG) at National Law Universities in India are as follows:

 

  1. Aspirants belonging to Unreserved / OBC / Specially Abled Persons (SAP) categories should have secured a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination (10+2) whereas aspirants belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories should have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination (10+2).
  2. Aspirants who are appearing in the qualifying exam in March / April 2018 are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2018 law entrance exam. However, they are required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission.

 

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for PG Law Courses

 

The CLAT eligibility criteria for law admission (PG) at top law colleges in India are as follows:

 

Aspirants belonging to Unreserved / OBC / Specially Abled Persons (SAP) categories should have secured a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination (LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/any other equivalent exam) whereas aspirants belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination (LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.).

 

CLAT Age Limit for UG and PG Law Courses

 

There shall be no upper age limit to appear for CLAT exam.

 

CLAT 2018 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

 

The CLAT 2018 applications for admission to law courses in law colleges in India shall be available for the law aspirants from 1 January 2018 on the CLAT website. To help candidates in filling up CLAT application form with ease, here is the step-by-step procedure.

 

Step-by-Step Common Law Admission Test Registration Procedure

 

Step 1: Law aspirants can access CLAT online application form from the CLAT official website. However, they need to first register first by using personal Email ID and Mobile Number. After successful CLAT registration, candidates shall receive Provisional Registration number and Password, to be used to access CLAT application form.

 

Step 2: Candidates need to log in with received login credentials and fill up the CLAT application form with accurate information.

 

Step 3: Candidates need to upload the following documents as a part of CLAT application process.

  • Passport size recent photograph
  • Signature of the candidate
  • The scanned copy of the certificate in PDF format issued by the competent authority to support the claim of Specially Abled Persons (SAP).

Step 4: Next, candidates need to pay the required CLAT application form fees as well as fees for previous years’ CLAT question papers through net banking/debit card/credit card/ pay wallet/ RuPay etc. or through offline mode by way of online- generated bank challan

CLAT 2018 APPLICATION FEES

 

  • CLAT application fee for General/OBC/SAP and other category candidates: Rs. 4,000/-.
  • CLAT application fee for SC/ST category candidates: Rs. 3,500/-.
  • The cost of previous years’ question papers is Rs. 500/- (not included in the CLAT 2018 application fee of Rs. 4,000/- or Rs. 3,500/- as the case may be.).

 

CLAT ADMIT CARD

 

The candidates can download the CLAT admit card by logging their account from 20 April 2018. The candidates need to take print out of the CLAT 2018 admit card and carry the same to the CLAT examination hall on the exam day. The candidates should read all the instructions given on the CLAT admit card carefully and carry the requisite documents to the examination hall.

 

CLAT RESULT

 

The CLAT result will be declared on 31 May 2018. Candidates can check their CLAT result on the CLAT official website.
